Haley Jones, originally from Statesville, North Carolina, is a communications professional who brings creativity, authenticity, and heart to everything she does.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and is always surrounded by the playful energy of their beloved dogs.
​
With a passion for my community, Haley founded HLJ Marketing, LLC to help local businesses achieve innovative communication strategies that engage and recruit target audiences at a reasonable, realistic, and affordable price.
​
Additionally, her academic interests have provided Haley with a holistic view of effective communication and how it is both enhanced and challenged by digital infrastructures, providing a powerful understanding of digital infrastructures.

Currently, Haley Lara Jones is employed by her alma mater, Mitchell Community College, located in her North Carolina hometown, where she works as the Director of Marketing and Communications and Public Information Officer. She previously served for over five years as the Director of Marketing for the Carolina BalloonFest, the country’s second oldest hot air balloon festival and as a journalist for the only online newspaper in Iredell County (located in NC).

During her time at the University of South Florida, Jones received the opportunity to work for USF World, the university’s international hub, in a marketing assistantship capacity. Additionally, Jones was a teaching assistant, while working collaboratively with the First Year Composition and Professional and Technical Communication TAs to create supporting curriculum materials that actively developed a departmental educational technology tool for English classrooms. She also worked with instructional design technologists in the College of Education on educational technology coursework and served as an editorial assistant for the academic journal, Rhetoric of Health & Medicine.

Jones received her associate degree in English from Mitchell Community College in 2014, and her bachelor’s (2016) and master’s degree (2019) in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro before transferring to the University of South Florida to complete her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition with a focus in Digital Humanities in 2024.
With nearly three years of journalism experience, a decade of marketing experience, an academic interest in digital communication, and a knack for storytelling, Jones combines professional experience and academic scholarship to achieve a proven track record of results-driven promotions.
