Haley is from Statesville, NC where she serves as Director of Marketing and Communications for Mitchell Community College, her alma mater.
She is also engrained in the impact of economic tourism and historical preservation for the benefit of non-profit missions through her volunteer role as Director of Marketing for the Carolina BalloonFest, the country's second oldest hot air balloon festival.
She is happily enamored with her husband, adorably sweet lab, and one particularly opinionated dachshund.
Hi, I'm Haley (she/her/hers).
Haley is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Mitchell Community College and a current Ph.D. student at the University of South Florida pursuing her degree in Rhetoric and Composition with a focus in Digital Humanities. Her current scholarship has interest in public information infrastructures and their affect on the dissemination of information and public knowledge.

She draws upon feminist knowledge-making praxis and user-centric experiences to facilitate inclusive praxis to promote a diverse communication environment. Haley has experience with educational technology development and has served as a communication specialist in higher education marketing, prior to her Director position.

Haley is most interested in developing transparent and effective communication with the public. In the past, she has found ways to apply her scholarship in her career, implementing digital rhetoric, marketing, and maker culture as a freelancer digital marketer for various local entities, agencies, and nonprofits. As volunteer Director of Marketing for the Carolina BalloonFest, Haley has used her expanding knowledge of the digital field to increase the profitability and exposure of the festival and nonprofit.
With nearly three years of journalism experience and an extensive academic exposure to the English language and Rhetoric & Composition, Haley possesses a strong, technical command of a variety of writing styles and a firm understanding of communication ethics.
I am humbled and privileged to be named as a
2020 Iredell Health System Future Five recipient.
